The Black Caps host the Australians in Wellington, and there isn’t much between them with cricket betting markets.

Australia is the $1.60 favourite to win on the road with the best betting sites, and it’s going to be an exciting opening game to the series.

Australia vs. New Zealand T20 Predictions

Form can be thrown out the window when the ANZAC rivals meet.

They are two of the best short-form cricket nations in the world, and there is a stack of ability on show in Wellington.

Australia has the advantage of the Big Bash recently being played, so a lot of its players are in-form following the conclusion of the local tournament.

It’s a stacked Australian team, including David Warner, Steve Smith, Glenn Maxwell, and Adam Zampa. There are no weak links with the Australian team, so we’re not surprised by the current odds.

However, New Zealand is always tough to beat at home and in the T20 format, so the $2.35 underdogs can’t be overlooked.

They have a stack of talent, including Finn Allen, Devon Conway, and Glenn Phillips, who are primarily short form specialists. Allen and Conway could get the Kiwis off to a fast start with the bat, but we are worried by the middle order.

Not having the class of Kane Williamson is a big loss for New Zealand, and his experience coming in at three would have been great for them. However, Rachin Ravindra had a huge World Cup recently, and it only takes one player to get hot.

Australia has the better bowling lineup. New Zealand has Tim Southee, Lockie Ferguson, and Ish Sodhi, who are excellent bowlers, but not at the same class as Mitchell Starc, Zampa, and Josh Hazlewood.

Therefore, we’re taking Australia to win at $1.60. It’s a fair price for the visitors, who have too much experience to overlook.

Bet: Australia @ $1.60

Top New Zealand Run Scorer – Devon Conway

Conway is a power hitter, and he could get the Black Caps off to a fast start on Wednesday.

He has been in good form this summer, and he’s being respected at the sportsbook on the second line of betting at $4.40.

Allen is the current $4.10 favourite, and he’s also a good chance, but Conway could clear the ropes on multiple occasions and produce a big score.

He’s also a $12 chance to win Player of the Match, which is worth entertaining at the price.

Bet: Devon Conway @ $4.40

Top Australia Run Scorer – Steve Smith

He’s not the most exciting player in the game, but Smith is one of the steadiest batsmen in the world.

T20 isn’t always a big hitters game. If Smith can score early runs, then he’s good at picking up boundaries later in his innings.

He won score 100 off 40 balls, but he could score around 70 off 50, which should be enough to see him top score for the Australians.

Smith is a $5 chance behind Warner and Josh Inglis, and we’re happy to take the value for the former Australian captain.

Bet: Steve Smith @ $5
