Fluc Up Tool Terms and Conditions
Section 12 of General Terms and Conditions

12.1 The Fluc-Up Tool, and any Bets in respect of which Fluc-Up Tool is available, shall be governed by these General Promotional Terms and Conditions, in addition to the Account and Betting Platform Terms of Use and the Betting Rules.

12.2 NEDS may, in its absolute discretion, make the Fluc-Up Tool available to eligible Customers for use in selected markets, events or Bet types.

12.3 The Fluc-Up Tool is not available for use in conjunction with any other Promotional Offer or Promotional Tool.

12.4 The Fluc-Up Tool is only available for single ‘win’ only Bets. The ‘win’ portion of an each-way Bet is not eligible for use with the Fluc-Up Tool.

12.5 The Fluc-Up Tool is not available for use on ‘Multi-Bets’, ‘Exotic Bets’ or ‘Future Bets’ as those terms are defined in the NEDS Betting Rules.

12.5 The maximum eligible Bet that can be used with the Fluc-Up Tool is $500.00

12.6 The Fluc-Up Tool is only available for use on Eligible Australian and New Zealand metropolitan racing events only (thoroughbred gallopers, trotters and greyhounds).

12.7 The Fluc-Up Tool is only available for Bets placed on the Neds Betting Platform (either the desktop version or using the Neds smartphone App) and is not available in respect of Bets placed by telephone.

12.8 The Fluc- Up Tool is only available for use once per race.

12.9 If the Fluc-Up Tool is made available for use in conjunction with your eligible Bet, then:
(a) you will see Fluc-Up Tool button/icon underneath your selection on your ‘Quick Slip’;

(b) Once the Bet on your selection is accepted and appears in your Bet Slip, you will have the option to use the Fluc-Up Tool on your selected runner, by clicking on the ‘Fluc-Up’ button/icon (‘Fluc-Up Request’);

(c) Your Fluc-Up Request must be made within 5 minutes of your Bet being accepted as indicated by the countdown timer displayed next to your selection in your Bet Slip (‘Fluc-Up Activation Period’);

(d) If your Fluc-Up Request is made within the Fluc-Up Activation Period , then if the market odds for your selected runner fluctuates out / upwards at any time during the Fluc-Up Activation Period (in accordance with the market fluctuation data displayed on the Betting Platform), then the odds for your selection will automatically be adjusted to the next highest fluctuating odds for your selection from those which were current when the Bet was placed, so that if your selection is a resulting/winning Bet, and you will be paid out at that next highest fluctuation odds, rather than the lower odds at which the Bet was placed.

12.10 Your Fluc-Up Request will not be deemed to have been approved and processed by NEDS until you receive confirmation in your Bet Statement.

12.11 Once a Fluc-Up Request is made and processed, your Fluc-Up Tool will be deemed to have been consumed, notwithstanding there is no market fluctuation out / upwards in the odds on your selection during the Fluc-Up Activation Period.

12.12 If there is a time out or other intermittent failure of your connection to the NEDS Betting Platform between the time you submit a Fluc-Up Request until when you receive confirmation that the Fluc-Up Request has been accepted or rejected (‘Pending Request’), you may not be able to use the Fluc-Up Tool on another Bet until such confirmation of the Pending Request is displayed in your Bet Statement.

12.13 Each eligible customer will be allocated a fixed number of times they can use the Fluc-Up Tool in each 24 hour period at NEDS’ absolute discretion. The allocated quota of uses of the Fluc-Up Tool will reset at midnight (AEST) each day and any unused quota for that day will expire and will not roll-over to the next day.

12.14 You can only use of the Fluc-Up Tool once per race. The Fluc-Up Tool will be deemed to have been consumed and will not be available for use with any other Bets that day, if there is a time out or other intermittent failure of your connection to the Neds Betting Platform between the time you activate the Fluc-Up Tool for a race to when it is displayed in your Bet Slip as having been applied to your Bet.

12.15 NEDS reserves the right to change, suspend or remove the availability of Fluc-Up Tool at any time.

12.16 NEDS reserves the right to void any Bets placed using the Fluc-Up Tool if there has been an obvious and manifest error by NEDS and/or a breach of any of the Terms and Conditions by the Customer.

This Saturday is Rebel Stakes Day at Oaklawn Park as the road to the Triple Crown winds its way through Hot Springs, Ark. with the Rebel Stakes featured on a 12-race card that includes a total of four stakes. Three of Oaklawn’s four Saturday stakes races are graded, and the undercard feature is the $600,000 Razorback Handicap, which is also a solid headline race for handicappers to sink their teeth into. For this weekend’s winners, let’s take a closer look at the Rebel Stakes for 3-year-olds and start things off the race before with some picks for the Razorback Handicap for older horses. If you can catch these two winners, you should be well on your way to a profitable day of racing and wagering this Saturday at Oaklawn. Best of luck.

Oaklawn Park, Race 10, $600,000 Razorback Handicap, post time 5:45 p.m. ET

The Grade 3 Razorback Handicap has drawn a highly competitive field of 13 older horses ready to go 1 1/16 miles for a $600,000 purse. The race looks wide open for handicappers, but the clear choice in the field is #8 Magic Tap for leading trainer Steve Asmussen. Magic Tap showed promise in 2023 as a 3-year-old and looked better than that last time out when winning an Oaklawn allowance race at 1 1/8 miles in his first race as a 4-year-old. Magic Tap’s Beyer speed figures are consistently in the mid-90s, which matches up nicely against this competition, and he’ll be perfectly spotted from a pace perspective stalking the leaders close up in a race where there is plenty of speed entered to ensure a set-up for his stretch rally. There are plenty of options for the exotics in this field and some of them offer good value in the morning line odds. #2 Frosted Departure has been a sprinter on and off in his career but he stretched out to this 1 1/16-mile distance two races ago at Oaklawn and blew the doors off a good field that included Silver Prospector by more than seven lengths. #11 Notary owns five wins in his last seven races, including a stakes win last year at Hawthorne and a five-length win last time out at this track and distance against some the same competition he’ll face again Saturday. Finally, #4 Ain’t Life Grand figures to be overbet in this spot in his return from a seven-month layoff but certainly has dirt route form in the past performances that’s good enough to compete in this spot.

The Play: Bet to win on #3 Magic Tap (9-2) and play him in a three-horse exacta box with #2 Frosted Departure (15-1), and #11 Notary (10-1). Finally, bet trifectas keying Magic Tap on top and using Frosted Departure, Notary, and #4 Ain’t Life Grand (7-2) underneath.

Oaklawn Park, Race 11, $1,250,000 Rebel Stakes, post time 6:23 p.m. ET

At a purse of $1.25 million, the Grade 2 Rebel Stakes is an extremely rich prep race for the Kentucky Derby Presented by Woodford Reserve, so it’s not surprising that it has drawn a quality 13-horse field of 3-year-old hopefuls looking for Derby qualifying points and a big payday. That being said, the Rebel has turned up top-heavy this year with #7 Timberlake looming as a standout in the field and #11 Just Steel looking like a clear second choice. Both Timberlake and Just Steel make sense. Last fall, Timberlake won the Grade 1 Champagne Stakes and was fourth in the FanDuel Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Presented by TAA and now will be making his 3-year-old debut off a layoff. Just Steel exits a second-place finish in Oaklawn’s Grade 3 Southwest Stakes, but he has drawn a far outside post that won’t help. The door is open if you are looking for a longer-priced horse to put on your tickets with the favorites, and the horse amongst the others with the biggest upside at this moment in time is #1 Carbone, who showed a lot of promise winning the first two starts of his career by open lengths for trainer Steve Asmussen, including a two-turn mile race at Oaklawn two races ago. Carbone flopped in the Southwest Stakes last time in an effort Asmussen blamed on a lost workout and disrupted training regimen during Oaklawn’s weather-related closing that led to the Southwest’s one-week postponement. You can’t fault those who are willing to give Carbone another chance in the Rebel, and if you are willing to do that you should be rewarded with a contender at double-digit odds on the tote board.

The Play: Bet #1 Carbone (15-1) to win and box him in the exactas and trifectas with #7 Timberlake (6-5) and #11 Just Steel (7-2).

2024 Honeybee Stakes Betting Odds and Contenders Preview

Three-year-old fillies take the stage on Saturday, February 24, at Oaklawn Park in Hot Springs, Arkansas, for the Grade 3 Honeybee Stakes. The 1 1/16-mile dirt race is the second of three stakes races on Oaklawn’s racing calendar for Oaks-bound fillies. It started Feb. 3 with the Martha Washington Stakes, continues through the Honeybee, and finishes with the Fantasy Stakes (G3) on March 30.

The Honeybee drew a field of 10 sophomore fillies with Kentucky Oaks aspirations, including both proven stakes horses and runners still trying to prove themselves in stakes races. The spoils are rich: a $400,000 purse and 50-25-15-10-5 points on the road to the Kentucky Oaks. It practically guarantees the winner a spot in the Kentucky Oaks and puts other horses who run well on the way, too.

The winner of the Fantasy Stakes has gone on to win the Kentucky Oaks in two of the last four years. Shedaresthedevil (2020) won both races, as did Secret Oath (2022). Last year’s winner, Wet Paint, though she was the beaten favorite in the Kentucky Oaks, won the Fantasy Stakes and the Coaching Club American Oaks (G1).

Honeybee Stakes Prep Results

Three of the ten runners come out of the previous race on the Oaklawn spur of the Road to the Kentucky Oaks: the Martha Washington. Winner Band of Gold attempts to carry her form further down the trail, and she will see both third-place Neom Beach and fourth-place Tapit Jenallie in the Honeybee. Two others in the field come out of a different stakes at Oaklawn Park, the six-furlong Mockingbird. Midshipman’s Dance rallied to win the race, while Edistrudis flattened out to fourth.

Two other horses in the field come out of the Kentucky Oaks points races. The only one who comes out of graded-stakes company is Alys Beach, who was most recently third in the Alcibiades (G1) last fall at Keeneland and makes her sophomore debut in the Honeybee. West Omaha, the morning-line favorite, romped in the Silverbulletday on January 20 and now tries the Oaklawn stakes program on for size.

The last three runners each come out of maiden special weight races at Oaklawn, and each will face winners for the first time in the Honeybee. Honor Cat easily wired a muddy mile on January 12, while In Just My Heels pressed and took over in a 1 1/16-mile race on February 2. Lemon Muffin, the only maiden in the field, has been a close second in her last four races and tries two turns for the first time in this spot.

Honeybee Stakes Contenders

These are the contenders in the 2024 Honeybee Stakes, organized by post position:

Alys Beach: She won her one-turn debut at Saratoga and then ran twice in graded stakes races afterward. She flattened to sixth after setting the pace in the Alcibiades, and instead of pressing her on to the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies, trainer Brad Cox put her on the shelf until this prep. The inner post in a big field can be challenging, but she did make the lead from the inside in the Alcibiades and also showed a tactical gear in her maiden win.

Band of Gold: For a horse who won the local prep, she still has quite a bit to prove. Her debut maiden win came against off-turf foes, and her Martha Washington win came in the slop. That race did come back fast, and she has proven she can pass horses. However, make sure to demand enough of a price to cover for the fact that she has to prove herself on a fast track against real dirt horses.

Honor Cat: It took her five starts to get off the mark, but she broke her maiden last month at Oaklawn and now steps into graded-stakes company for the first time. She won on the front end, but two back ran a very good second from a stalking spot. Trainer Robertino Diodoro shines with last-out maidens, the step up in trip should suit her pedigree, and she doesn’t need much of a step up from her last dry-track race to be an exotics contender in this.

Neom Beach: She broke her maiden three back over this distance, and has nabbed placings in a pair of stakes races at Oaklawn since. She has been well beaten in those races, suggesting that she does need to take a step forward to be a serious win candidate, but she has the tactical speed and consistency to figure for exotics.

Edistrudis: With seven races, she is the most experienced horse in the field, but her only wins have come in a maiden sprint at Ellis and an allowance sprint at Horseshoe Indianapolis. Her sprint speed should probably have her close to the pace, but this is a difficult spot to try two turns for the first time, and her pedigree is a bit more oriented to sprinter-miler trips.

West Omaha: Instead of staying in Louisiana for that spur of the Oaks trail, the Silverbulletday mixes it up for trainer Brad Cox and comes to Oaklawn instead. Her Silverbulletday win was solid: not only was it a five-length victory, but it showed good tactical speed. Furthermore, in terms of speed figures, she has room to improve off that effort, making her a serious contender.

Lemon Muffin: She has run five times, making her one of the more experienced runners, but she has yet to win a race. She came as close as ever last out when trying blinkers for the first time, and perhaps the stretch out to two turns for the first time can move her forward. However, this is a tougher group, and she needs to take a significant step forward, making her a long shot for a reason.

Tapit Jenallie: She won her first two races at Remington and Delta, though she has yet to be a serious threat against stakes horses at Oaklawn in her last two starts. To her credit, she is versatile enough to win from close to the pace or a few lengths off of it, and her pedigree is thoroughly two-turn, but she has yet to win at a route and will need to take a sharp step forward to compete in a race like this right now.

In Just My Heels: She came up flat in her first two starts, but woke up to win in frontrunning fashion at 24-1 odds over this course and distance on February 2. The post isn’t a bad one for carving out a clean outside-stalking trip, though she has yet to run a race that is anywhere near fast enough to be a win candidate in this spot.

Midshipman’s Dance: She is undefeated in two starts, both of which came over the Oaklawn dirt. However, both of those races came at six-furlong trips, leaving her with distance ability to prove. That said, 1 1/16 miles should be within the abilities of her pedigree. With a proven ability to pass horses, she should be able to find a place to drop in and make a solid late run at a price.

Honeybee Stakes Past Winners Past Performances

The Martha Washington Stakes has been the key prep for recent editions of the Honeybee. Out of the last ten winners of the Honeybee, six have come out of the Martha Washington. The last three winners of this race all won the local prep: Will’s Secret (2021), Secret Oath (2022), and Wet Paint. Three others finished in the money: Euphrosyne (2014) and Sarah Sis (2015) were all second in the Martha Washington, while Cosmic Burst (2018) was third.

The four other winners in the last ten years all came out of allowance company, though three of those four winners who came from allowances were already stakes-placed. It Tiz Well (2017) came out of an allowance win at Santa Anita but was already graded-placed; Chocolate Kisses (2019) came out of a Fair Grounds allowance win but placed in listed company before that. Shedaresthedevil (2020), second in an allowance at Oaklawn before winning the Honeybee, was also already graded-stakes placed. Terra Promessa (2016) came out of an allowance win at Oaklawn and won her stakes debut in the Honeybee.

Honeybee Stakes Undercard

The Honeybee Stakes is the ninth of 12 races on Oaklawn Park’s Saturday card. The feature race is the $1.25 million Rebel Stakes (G2), a 50-point prep for the Kentucky Derby. The card features two other stakes as well: the $600,000 Razorback (G3) for handicap horses and the $150,000 Carousel for older sprint fillies and mares.

Oaklawn Park History

Back in 1905, the Hot Springs Mayor declared a half-day holiday for the opening of Oaklawn Park, with over 3,000 people attending the track on its first day of racing. The holiday heralded the beginning of a tradition that has lasted for over a century!

Due to political issues, no racing took place at Oaklawn between 1907 and 1916 but after a sustained period of action, the now-famous Arkansas Derby was inaugurated in 1936 with a purse of $5,000 offered to entrants.

By 1952, Oaklawn could boast daily attendances of almost 8,000 people and an average daily handle of well over $400,000, figures which rose by the turn of the decade to 10,000 and $500,000, respectively, with the Arkansas Derby purse increasing to $50,000 by 1965.

The track continued to go from strength to strength, and during a 50-day meeting in 1970 an average of 11,000 people were attending daily, with over $43,000,000 wagered over the course of the meet.

In the mid-70s, Oaklawn gave birth to the Racing Festival of the South, with pari-mutuel wagering amounting to a cool $80,000,000 that season, and by the 80s, over a quarter of a million people were attending the festival each year. By then, the purse for the Arkansas Derby was up at $500,000, and a new single-day attendance record was set with 71,000 showing up to see Rampage win the big race in 1986.

Ten years later, Arkansas Derby day saw a total handle of over $10.5 million, and by the turn of the millennium, Oaklawn was still seeing increases in attendance and wagering, meaning the track stands as one of the best in the country at present.

There are four meetings across the UK and Ireland on Thursday, two National Hunt and two Flat.

The first port of call is Thurles (1.53-4.53pm), where the seven-race card includes Grade 3 and Listed action. Lingfield Park (2.15-4.45) stages the other jump racing, with Chelmsford (2.05-4.35) and Newcastle (5.00-8.30) providing the Flat fare.

Our nap is a filly trained by John and Thady Gosden who travels to Newcastle with an excellent chance of maintaining that partnership’s impressive strike-rate at the course.

Horse racing tips: Newcastle 5.00

It’s always worth taking note when the training team of John and Thady Gosden sends horses up to Newcastle. They don’t send many but when they do they usually run well – and the father-and-son combination have a 36 per cent strike-rate at the venue.

Their filly SEA ICE has shown some promise on her three runs. On her most recent start she was beaten by stablemate Kaleidoscope, who looks a very talented filly. She was clear of everything else, though, and on that form, she has enough to win one of these maiden contests.

Her dam was a winner over a mile and a half, so today’s step up in trip to 1m 2f should suit her. She is the most experienced filly in the field and has the best form, so a win should be expected.

Sea Ice may not be the only success for the Gosden team, who also send their progressive sprinter COVER UP to Gosforth Park for this 5f dash.

The four-year-old is 2-2 on the all-weather this season and a hat-trick looks likely. He is still improving with every run and looks to be some way ahead of the handicapper with a mark of 88.

Nothing has been able to trouble him in either of his all-weather successes and a 5lb rise for his course-and-distance success last time out will not be enough to stop him bolting up here.

Horse racing tips: Thurles 2.23

This 2m 6f novice chase looks likely to be a match between Gordon Elliott-trained HARMONYA MAKER and English raider Marsh Wren, and it is the former who is preferred.

She won a Grade 2 novice chase here last month and will carry a hefty 10lb penalty for her success, but she is the best horse in the race and has enough ability to win this despite carrying top weight.

Marsh Wren is rated 131 in the UK and she still may be a bit better than that, but her form does not look as strong as her rival and it is going to be tough for her to win on away soil.

Course form could prove key here and a similar level of performance to that which she produced here last month should be enough to get the win for Harmonya Maker.
